Unmarked Martini Henry style rifle. Wooden forward grip and stock with crude replacement aluminium stockplate affixed with iron nails. Steel barrel and mechanism. One engraved aluminium barrel band and decorative copper wire. Silver wire decoration to the stock. Incomplete remains of leather strap. Treatment included cleaning of wood and metal surfaces, removal of corrosion, poulticing of ink staining to wood from old accession numbers, toning in areas of stripped varnish caused by previous attempts at removing ink, application of protective surface coating and lubricating of working mechanisms.
